J. Smith "Smitty" Harrison, Jr

Smitty Harrison joined the South Carolina Wind and Hail Underwriting Association in 1993 and has been in the insurance industry since 1977. He has a Bachelor of Science in business administration, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina, and a master’s in insurance from Georgia State University. Harrison was an adjunct professor of insurance at the University of South Carolina for 16 years. His insurance designations include CPCU, AIM, ARM and ARe. Harrison is a past chairman of the Property Insurance Plan Service Office, as well as a past chairman of the National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Associations.
